Coimbatore, Nov 19 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released
Rs 18,000 crore to nine crore farmers as part of the 21st instalment under
the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.
After releasing the funds, Mr Modi inaugurated the South India Natural
Farming Summit at the Codissia Trade Fair complex, in which more than
5,000 farmers and members of various farmers associations from the
southern states attended.
Earlier, on reaching the function venue from the airport, Mr Modi inaugurated
a farmers expo, showcasing various farm products and latest technologies
and extensively intercted with the members of the farmers organisations
who explained to him about the latest techniques in the field of agriculture.
The members also took selfies with the Prime Minister, who responded
enthusiastically.
A PMO release said the Prime Minister released the 21st instalment of
PM-KISAN, amounting to more than Rs 18,000 crore to support nine
crore farmers across the country.
It said the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025 was being organised
by the Tamil Nadu Natural Farming Stakeholders Forum.
The Summit aims to promote sustainable, eco-friendly, and chemical-free
agricultural practices, and to accelerate the shift towards natural and
regenerative farming as a viable, climate-smart and economically sustainable
model for India’s agricultural future.
The Summit will also focus on creating market linkages for farmer-producer
organisations and rural entrepreneurs, while showcasing innovations in organic
inputs, agro-processing, eco-friendly packaging, and indigenous technologies.
The programme will witness participation from over 50,000 farmers, natural
farming practitioners, scientists, organic input suppliers, sellers, and
stakeholders from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka
and Andhra Pradesh.
Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi, union Minister L Murugan and others were
present on the occasion.
